Back in the USSR

Feel the vanishing spirit of the USSR!

Although the capital of Ukraine looks nowadays like a normal European city, you can still find marks of the past Soviet regime on its streets and feel what prints it’s put on people’s mentality. Putting aside terrible testimonies of the Stalin violent rule and unjustified egalitarianism for 15 nations that all had their history, ambition and pride, - signs of Soviet presence on the streets and in minds of our people are pretty remarkable. We will show you grand and noble buildings on the main streets of Kiev built for establishment; stars and other emblems of USSR that still decorate main administrative buildings of the independent Ukraine; museums and monuments, which keep the memory of those 70 years in our hearts.
Not only old Ukrainian “babushkas” are nostalgic upon the lost Soviet order, equality and stability. Although the younger generation does not even think of voting for the Communists, we all have a “born in the USSR” mark, and keep our own sweet memories of colourful demonstrations, political information lessons at schools, pioneer camps and mackle-paper collecting in the neighbourhood. Young and progressive businessmen are now opening restaurants and night clubs that preserve separate articles memorable for all kids of the USSR: like an old record player, a Zinger sewing-machine, toys that were identical in every family.
We will dip you in the true Soviet atmosphere – Great Patriotic War Memorial, the statue of Lenin, eminent figure of the “Motherland” protecting the city of Kiev from invasion (higher than the NY Statue of Liberty), Khrushchev and Brezhnev-style buildings, dinner at the USSR-style restaurant with nostalgic music and cuisine well-known to every Soviet citizen. And at the closing of your “Back in the USSR” excursion – dancing or karaoke-singing at a Soviet-style night club, where true Central Committee luxury adjoins lovely artefacts of community way of life.
